What would you do if your plane crash landed in the wilds of Alaska and you were the only survivor? The answer: Die from exposure. There are a rare few of us out there that has enough survival skills to survive such an ordeal, and even fewer who could survive while being injured as well.
This is a short novella that the author wrote to give us some more of my favorite characters Nick and Daisy from the first book in the series, and it deals with the events that has been going on in these books and how they are balancing having a relationship with each other, and trying to overcome the newest danger that is at their door. Though this book is short, around 130 pages, it was packed full of action and drama that we expect from this series and it made me wonder why I hadn’t picked this one up sooner.
Kiss of a Demon King introduces us to by far my favorite h in this series, Sabine. She is a sorceress (Queen of Illusions) and a member of Team Evil. She and her sister Lanthe aren’t necessarily bad people, they are just looking out for themselves and don’t really care about the repercussions for their actions if it doesn’t directly affect them. With the back story that they had? I could honestly say that I would have been the same
What do you get if you combine underage drinking, random acts of vandalism, running for HOURS, (future) step brother/sister love, OTT high school clichés, and someone cheating on someone in pretty much EVERY chapter? Fallen Crest High!!!! Now with that being said, that doesn’t make this book any less entertaining. I found some parts down-right hilarious, but in other parts I merely stared at my Kindle and forced myself to swallow down my frustrations.
I was in the mood for a particularly dark book and came across this one in the Kindle store. I must admit, the cover sold me, and the title seemed promising, so I downloaded it without even reading the description.
After reading The Dominator, I didn’t think I was ready for the sequel. That book was a challenge to read, the content so dark it made me have to take breaks in between chapters to wrap my head around what was going on.
This book could have been EPIC. It had all the ingredients to make it so. A great writer, a sassy h, a tortured H, awesome plot, and interesting banter and dialogue between the characters. What it was missing though, was so glaringly obvious that I am sitting here scratching my head and felling…well…feeling a bit cheated.
Did I like this one? That question is still floating around in my head and I have yet come up with an answer for it. It was definitely better than the last installments, more effort put into the character development and the world outside of the bedroom, so there is that. It was entertaining to a degree, the drama was pretty good, but at times a little grating due to Rhal being a little too emo for me. He is supposed to be a master assassin! Master assassins don’t whine like babies.
The Master is book two in Ms. Cole’s The Game Maker series, and while I liked the first one, I really wasn’t all that blown away with it. I decided to give the next book a shot though, because I do like her style of writing and her interesting characters, and I am glad I did.
The Dominator starts us off as a 19-year old girl named Athena “Tia”. She is a foster kid who just graduated from high school, and has a promising future that she is looking forward to. For the past five years, she had been staying with a wonderful family, though she has been in foster care since the age of nine due to her father’s neglect and inability to be a father and her mother dead from suicide.
Dark Desires After Dusk, book five in her IAD series, introduces us to a new character, Holly, an OCD professor and the object of Cadeon Woede’s obsession. He feels a pull to her, knows deep down that she is his mate, but there is a slight problem. She is human. A human could never be able to survive a mating with a demon, so he has had to just be satisfied with watching her from afar and wishing for more.
Breaking Love left us off with so many questions and a cliffhanger that was so crazy, if I had to wait any amount of time to get my answers I would have been like Ralph. Fortunately for me, I read the last couple of books recently so This one was already available to put all those unanswered questions to bed, and to give me another dose of Kieran.
